It's been 34 years in the making folks, so here it is - the first ever Top Run + Top Gun (with private cinema showing before we go for a run). Phoenix Running is bringing you one of our Top RUN events with a unique difference - we're going to relax in front of the silver screen first and enjoy an advanced private showing of Top Gun 2: Maverick on the morning of its actual release date. Then we're going for a RUN!
The morning private cinema showing - 10.00am to 12.30pm
We've waited 34 years for this, and so, at 10.00am on the release day for Top Gun: Maverick we've hired out the whole of Screen 1 at the Walton Everyman cinema in Walton on Thames and they've even put in a special time slot for us so we get to see the movie first! This means we have 98 seats up for grabs at the very first 'RUN to the CINEMA' event ever staged by Phoenix Running!
The afternoon running event - 2.00pm onwards
Top Run 2 is one of our 6 hour timed events where you choose - from 5km to 10k, half to marathon to ultra, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 5.3km, 3.28 mile, out and back, course along the beautiful river Thames. We welcome all abilities of runner - complete one lap and you're both a finisher and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 6 hour time limit and everyone gets the fabulous bespoke finishers' medal.
Not sure? Well the beauty of this format is that you don't even need to decide in advance - simply come and run a lap and see how you feel on the day and keep on going if you feel the need, the need for speed.
Why are we doing this?
Because we're the best of the best!
How will the cinema bit work?
When you sign up for the Top RUN, there will be an optional extra to also buy cinema seats, so simply select the number of seats you require and check-out. It's just a walk in the park Kazansky!
Can I buy cinema seats but not do the run?
Ultimately yes, however we do want the cinema bit to be prioritised for folks running with us, as that's kinda the point really. Remember, this is Top RUN - you're the best of the best, the top 1% of all athletes. So initially we'll only offer the cinema sign up options to those who enter the run.
When will you release the seats to those not doing the run?
That classified, I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.
Can I buy more than one cinema seat - I.E bring my family or friends?
Yes you sure can, and why not use the opportunity to get them to do the run afterwards too and make a family and friends day of things! We allow runners from aged 12 to complete one lap and upwards, age dependent - see our T&C's link at the bottom of our homepage for details of running.
Where will race registration be?
If you're coming to the cinema before the run we're actually going to register you in the cinema bar area and give you your running number (BIB) there. If you're not coming to the cinema and are coming to the run then registration will be open from 1pm at the leisure centre. The details will all be included in the final event information nearer the time. We might even make your race number your cinema seat number, because we are that cool. Turn and burn baby!
What happens if things change and I can't make it?
You can make changes up until 6 weeks prior to the cinema showing at which point seats will be allocated and things will be set in stone. We won't pass seats on after this time.
What if I insist on a flyby within the 6 week deadline or try and get a seat after the screen is full?
You'll get this message, Tower, this is Ghost rider requesting a flyby. Air Boss Vercoe: That's a negative Ghost rider, the pattern is full.
What if I don't like my seat and I fancy arguing with the tower?
If anyone does a fly-by on the tower at over 400 KNOTS, we will want somebody's butt, and we want it now!
How will seats be allocated?
We're going to allocate seats on a 'date of sign up', first come, and first served basis. I.E those who sign up first will be allocated the slightly more desirable seats in the centre of the cinema and then we'll work outwards. The cinema is a bit posh, with two seat sofas and armchairs so all the seats are really good - this is Top Run and we know you're not happy unless you're going Mach 2 with your hair on fire!
Terms & Conditions specific to the private cinema showing;
* Phoenix Running Ltd has hired the cinema screen for a private showing and corporate event booking. All seats are being passed on at cost and PR Ltd is not a ticket reseller.
* Seats are not refundable and in the unlikely event that the cinema cancels or the film becomes unavailable or the release date changes, Phoenix Running Ltd cannot be held liable for seat refunds.
