Brookburn Road, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M21 8FE
We're delighted to announce Manchester's first Remembrance Day running event. We hope you'll consider joining us for a very special run indeed, and you don't want to miss out on a chance to get hands on these medals. The 2025 design is already done and is definitely our best yet!
Chosen Charity for the event: War Paws UK - charity helping the forgotten animals of war. For every entry, we donate a £1, at no extra cost to you.
Medals: The first 25 sign ups will get the amazing Remembrance Day medal (it weighs a whopping 1kg! and is quite a work of art if we may say so), so don't leave it too late.
If you miss out on being one of the first 25 sign ups, don't fret, we have a beautiful Lest We Forget medal on offer to everyone else who signs up after this time.
This event is literally built around a unique 'race freeze' at 11.00am, where, at the sound of the horn blast, all runners stop to observe a 2 minute silence, resuming their race at exactly 11.02am when we sound 3 blasts of the horns. Even if you're finished with your run prior to 11am, why not stay around to pay your respects and absorb the unique atmosphere at 11.00am.
An important note:
This is not an event with a 2 minute silence put in it - this is a 2 minute silence with an entire marathon & half marathon event built around it. It is the very heart and soul of this event and the reason it exists. It is a very moving, spine tingling experience to be part of and in past years members of the public, walkers, cyclists and even rowers on the river have put their oars up and joined in.
The medals?
Well, let's just say these are EPIC!
