Sunday 10 November 2019
After the success of our 2018 centenary event, we're delighted to announce that this very, very special and poignant event will be back in 2019 for a special 101 edition to mark 101 years since the end of WW1. This year we've added a Half Marathon specific distance too, so that even more of you can get your hands on our famous 1 inch thick, heavy metal medal (yes you read that right). This year's design is our best yet!
Please note the entry fee is the same for both events, and you'll be asked to select marathon or half marathon as part of the entry process. The epic medal and awesome support are the same for both distances!
We're holding our annual Remembrance Day Marathon & Half Marathon 101 Edition on Sunday 10th November 2019.
This event is built around a unique 'race freeze' at 11.00am, where at the sound of a horn blast all runners stop to observe the 2 minute silence, resuming their race at exactly 11.02am when we should 3 blasts of the horns. Even if you're a fast half marathon runner and plan to have finished before 11am, why not stay around to pay your respects and absorb the unique atmosphere at 11.00am.
This is not an event with a 2 minute silence put in it - this is a 2 minute silence with an entire marathon & half marathon event built around it. It is the very heart and soul of this event and the reason it exists. It is a very moving, spine tingling experience to be part of.
Well, as has now become tradition with this event, we don't reveal that until the day itself, but let's just say these with be EPIC!
This event sold out months in advance last year so please enter early. Places will be strictly limited.
Off road trail, the terrain is riverside towpath - 4 out and back laps equal the full marathon distance and 2 out and back laps make up a half marathon distance
The overall course has no elevation gain / loss making this a flat and fast route.
10th November 2019, or before if maximum entry numbers are reached (this is highly likely) There is NO 'on the day entry'.
