Please consider joining us for what is going to be a very special and poignant VIRTUAL Remembrance Day Run indeed with our legendary 1kg, 1 inch thick medal.
Due to current Covid-19 safety requirements our attended version of this running event is being significantly reduced in numbers this year and is likely to be long since full by the time you read this. However, we remain undeterred and are turning this whole event into one of our very special 'Attended / Virtual' events. This is where attended meets virtual in a very unique way......
We're inviting you to join us from anywhere in the world on race day - Remembrance Sunday 8th November 2020 and to complete your Remembrance Run 'Virtually' alongside us.
This will be a totally unique experience for everyone!
- You'll received a personalised VIRTUAL race BIB with your number & name when you signup
- The live race brief will be streamed via Facebook on the morning of the event.
- All entrants will be fully included in all aspects of the final event information.
- We'll have our famous virtual marshals posting in the chat groups to keep you going from around the world
- We'll live stream video from the attended event so everyone can experience the buzz
Our original mid race freeze at 11.00am - goes worldwide!
In 2017 we became the first race organisation to build an entire Marathon event around the 2 minute 11.00am silence. We literally froze the event mid-race, by using synchronised air horns along the entire route - it was truly a spine tingling moment in Phoenix Running history and has been cloned by many other Remembrance Runs in subsequent years. Since then we've frozen the event each year; with over 600 runners, members of the public, dog walkers and even rowers on the nearby river all stopping with us to observe the silence in 2019. This year in 2020 we're going to live video stream the 2 minute silence and invite all our VIRTUAL runners worldwide to get involved. It won't mater where you are in the world, you can take part.
Virtual medals will be posted out 2 weeks in advance so that our VIRTUAL runners have them for their very own virtual finish line experience.
All Virtual results can be submitted through Phoenix World and approved same day, so you're all part of the action (results for attended and virtual will be reported separately for admin purposes only).
So, if you missed out on an attended space, you're not comfortable returning to attended events quite yet (there's no pressure to attend), or you just happen to live too far away to safely come and see us, then please consider becoming part of this amazing experience.
The Medal: Each year we bring you super-heavyweight 1kg, inch thick medal which combines aspects from both world wars. This year it's a WWII Churchill tank rolling on a bed of poppies - There are exactly 102 poppies on this medal, one for each year that's passed since the end of the Great War WWI.
Note: if you can't run on 8th November then don't worry as you can actually complete any of our virtual runs anywhere and at any time, and we recommend any distance from 1 mile and upward so this is for all running abilities - lthough, of course, we do hope you can join us on Remembrance Sunday 8th November 2020.
To submit your VIRTUAL results when you've completed your run, please sign-up and log in to your very own Phoenix WORLD account. You only signup once and then you can log in to your Phoenix WORLD to submit virtual results, see what future events you've entered in the crystal ball, manage your details and much, much more. Click here https://world.phoenixrunning.co.uk/ and follow the simple sign-up process.
We provide a physical running service and by entering our events you are purchasing an actual run, either by attending our events or by running the event virtually yourself. All participants in our events, both attended and virtual, will receive a free giveaway medal / memento from your run.
